HOME

I am Deirdre, a social worker who returned to university to earn a Master's Degree in Public Health Education in order to impact the lifestyles of others.
I am 45 years old and believe more than ever that what I do now will have everything to do with what I can do when I am 85. This would be true of
you as well.

I read everything with a discriminating eye. I look for truth, practicality, applicability and relevance.

The purpose of this web site is to tell you this:

  • The recommendation
  • The source
  • Who it matters to
  • Most importantly, how to apply it

I want to help the government, non-profits, volunteer agencies, medical associations and consumer organizations get the message to you. I believe that individuals can change themselves. I have no misguided sense that
I will change anyone.

The information we need is out there or will be out there. A headline should not dictate your choices. Science should. Truth should. I want to clarify the messages, for example: Eat more fruit. Okay... which fruit? Carbs are great! Carbs are bad. Huh? There are good fats?

Energy scales

It's a simple science and a difficult practice but it's real.
To maintain a weight, you
take in as much as you
expend. To gain weight, you take in more than you expend. To lose, you have to burn
more than you consume.
Less in and more out.

REMEMBER:

EIEO
Energy In Energy Out

This is not my "job":
it's my passion
